About WizTree and How Its Disk Analyzer Works

What is WizTree?

WizTree is a lightning-fast disk usage analyzer built for Windows. It scans your hard drive or SSD and shows exactly which files and folders are eating up storage. What makes WizTree so fast?

On NTFS drives (the format used by most Windows PCs today), WizTree reads the Master File Table (MFT) straight off the disk. The MFT is a hidden NTFS structure that already lists every file and folder on the drive. Reading it directly skips the usual Windows file system calls entirely, which is what makes scans so much quicker.

The "File View" ranks every file and folder on your drive by size. WizTree also flags likely duplicates by matching name, size and optionally date; click the "+" beside a file name to see its matches.
File Name Search

Find files fast by name or type with the file view search filter. Wildcards are supported too (e.g. *.mp3)
Export File and MFT Data

Export all or just selected file details to a CSV file, or copy them straight to the clipboard. MFT contents can also be dumped to a file.
Import File and MFT Data

Load exported CSV or dumped MFT files back into WizTree to review them later, handy for tracking how a drive changes over time.
Command Line Support

CSV and MFT exports can be triggered with command line parameters, useful for automated drive audits.
